Summary

In a small village called Ropra in the state of Uttarakhand,India, close to the village of Jeolikote, which is on the highway halfway between the rail head of Kathgodam and the hillstation of Nainital, are located the homestay called Woodlands and a hut colony named White Clover

Being surrounded by a predominantly pine forest with deciduous trees and at an altitude of nearly 4500 ft above sea level gives this village and surrounding areas a very pleasant climate most of the year with winter temperatures falling to near 0 degrees C at night and rising up to near 30 degrees C in the day during summer. With a peaceful setting away from the rush of mainstream traffic but connected by a village motorable road one wakes up in the mornings to the sound of birds singing to the joys of another day.

The forest above the village, having a mixture of trees and extending all the way to the foothills of the Himalaya puts this area bang on the migration route of birds looking for cooler weather to breed in, some coming in from all the way down in peninsular India. So besides the numerous resident birds one can spot an amazing variety of species of our feathered friends, who move up in March/April towards higher altitudes from the plains of India and back down during October and November in their seasonal migration for breeding. We've even had the Great Hornbill nesting around our villages in the past few years.

The temperate climate with forest surroundings, away from the bustle of towns, which are within an hours drive away, motorable access and set in a small village, make these facilities ideal for families wanting a peaceful holiday together, birdwatchers, nature lovers and yoga workshops from time to time qualifies these Units as a unique destination for a holiday. In addition there are easy jungle walks and picnics for the adventurous which are part of the activities available.
